Five faculty members from the Penn State Smeal College of Business received promotions in academic rank in July, reflecting their significant contributions to teaching, research, and service.

Daniel Aobdia, Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting, from the Department of Accounting was promoted to full professor. His research explores empirical accounting and economics, focusing on auditing as a framework for analyzing regulation, information spillovers, and organizational inputs. Aobdia holds advanced degrees from UCLA and Stanford, along with a background in mathematics and physics.

Brian Davis and Christoph Hinkelmann were promoted to clinical professors in the Department of Finance. Davis teaches courses in financial markets and global finance, leveraging his expertise in public policy and economics. Hinkelmann, who also serves as vice president of the Nittany Lion Fund, specializes in security analysis and portfolio management and guides students through honors theses and research projects.

Michelle Darnell from the Department of Management and Organization was promoted to clinical professor. Darnell is the director of the Tarriff Center for Business Ethics and Social Responsibility and teaches courses on business ethics and society.

Art Jones from the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems was promoted to teaching professor. Jones is known for teaching MIS-250 and courses in business systems analysis, bringing decades of teaching and applied research experience to Smeal.
