The Penn State Smeal College of Business has added 13 new faculty members for the 2024-25 academic year, strengthening its academic programs across several departments.

The Department of Accounting welcomed Kathy Baughman, a certified public accountant and fraud examiner, and Anik Choudhury, whose research focuses on archival audit research and accounting policy. Both bring extensive teaching and professional experience.

In the Department of Finance, Thomas Geelen, Fred Hood, and Young Soo Jang joined as experts in corporate finance, credit risk, and entrepreneurial finance. Geelen and Jang bring international academic backgrounds, while Hood offers a blend of academic and industry expertise.

The Department of Management and Organization added Semin Park, Federica Pinelli, and Yidan Yin. Their research spans team dynamics, stress in decision-making, and managerial cognition, enhancing the department’s focus on organizational behavior and innovation.

Evan Smith transitioned to an instructor role in Marketing, building on his experience in advising and curriculum development at Smeal.

The Department of Risk Management welcomed Menglong Guan and Santoshi Rimal, both with research interests in behavioral and household finance.

Zhenzhen Yan and Yuting Yuan joined the Supply Chain and Information Systems faculty, bringing expertise in strategic procurement, sustainable supply chain management, and data analytics. These appointments strengthen Smeal’s teaching and research initiatives across its departments.
